What a fantastic winter’s jumping we have had with some cracking competition and more importantly clear improvements in many of the riders and the horses over the season. When we started back in October there were some nights where we only managed a handful of clears in the first round, now we are consistently getting the vast majority of the riders posting clears and in some classes all of the riders going clear in the first round which just goes to show the benefit of regular competition.
Not only are all of the fences being left up but the jump-offs are getting faster and faster and the results closer and closer, in tonight’s classes we had 0.13 of a second splitting Abbie Letham and Kirsty Thomson in the Nursery Novice, 0.07 of a second splitting Kirstyn Beattie and Nicole Robinson in the Novice, 0.16 of a second splitting Courtney Telfer and Kirsty Thomson also in the Novice, 0.54 of a second splitting Kirstyn Beattie and Meghan Ballantyne in the Intermediate with the pony in third only 0.3 of a second behind ! To beat them all there was only 0.04 of a second splitting Kirstyn Beattie and Meghan Ballantyne in the Open.
But the great excitement of tonight was the final result of the league, the senior and the under 15 section were already safely in the hands of Charlotte Morison and Claire McNee but the 12 and under section went right down to the wire with the final outcome depending on the performances on the night. It was a win in the 65cm class and a third palce in the 75cm class that clinched Kirstyn Beattie on Bee the league with Meghan Ballantyne and Maxi-Boy a very close second.
