As well as the sunshine the Easter weekend brought riders from far and wide to take part in the Junior Academy Team SJ Competition on the Saturday and the first Junior BS Show run by the Academy on the Sunday at West Kype Farm, Strathaven.
Both days were extremely busy, kicking off with the team competition on the Saturday with a total of thirty teams entered across Novice, Intermediate and Open classes and eighteen individuals in the 60cm warm up class and the same in the 1.05m Open at the end of the day. At the last event, Lanarkshire had won all three competitions but didn’t think it a likely feat to be repeated, how wrong they were ! A superb jump off by Lauren Forrest secured the Novice win for Lanarkshire, from five other teams who had finished on zero penalties. In both the Intermediate and Open classes Lanarkshire were the only teams to finish on zero penalties therefore won without the need for a jump off. A second Lanarkshire Team jumped off for 6th place in the Novice class which was won by a blazing round from Nicola Hamilton.

The response to Lanarkshire Academy’s first Junior BS show was fantastic, with 153 starts across 8 classes, it was a great day of competition. The ten and unders and eleven and unders had special awards of medals in the first two classes for double clears and all prize winners over the day received an Easter Egg as well as their rosettes. Competitors arrived from South of the Border as well as Aberdeen and far flung areas like Whithorn!
The Academy would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped over the two days and who played a huge part in creating a welcoming, fun, friendly and professional atmosphere. Neither event could have taken place without their help.
