Two West Kype regulars headed off to the national championships at Scope last week and had an absolute ball! Cameron Rogan and Meghan Ballantyne were both jumping there for the first time and both brought home an armful of ribbons topped off by Cameron and AG Dynamo taking a ticket for HOYS in the Blue Chip Newcomers qualifier!
Cameron had qualified both of his ponies, AG Dynamo and AG Sirocco for a number of classes throughout the week. His week started well when he won the qualifier for the Discovery championships on the first day with AG Dynamo, known to us regulars as Tommy. It got even better when he took third place in the Discovery National Championships, but just when he thought it couldn’t get any better he qualified for the Newcomers Masters, where there were four tickets to the Horse of the Year Show in Birmingham up for grabs. The first round is a challenging 1.10m but with the height raised in the jump off and a number of competitors through there was nothing for it but to shave every second and cut every corner. With a superb jump off which had all of his supporters with their hearts in their mouths he took third place in the competition and picked up the first qualifying ticket as the others had already qualified. With that in the bag the party started!!!

Not to be outdone, Meghan and Landlord also had a fantastic week, their jumping was pushed to new heights literally! They qualified for three finals at Scope, the British Novice, the Adventurer and the Progressive. In the British Novice Championship they were placed sixth and in the Progressive they were placed third and only beaten by hundredths of a second in a very tight jump off but new heights were reached when they jumped off in the Adventurer over a course of 1.25m and were finally placed twelfth.
Both Cameron and Meghan have been great supporters of West Kype since we started, it has been great to see them progress with their young ponies and take them up through the levels to achieve such fantastic results, we are all very proud at West Kype and if it hadn’t been for the rest of us giving them clear rounds and jump off times to chase they might not have made it, so all you other West Kype regulars take a well earned pat on the back for the part you have played and a little bit of that Scope and HOYS feeling belongs to you !!
We all had a ball at scope right enough, great company, great camaraderie and proud to be from West Kype! X
