At our monthly Saturday show from August to February, West Kype hold qualifiers for the Pony Club Dengie Winter League second rounds and this year had a number of locals qualify.
The second rounds were held at SNEC on Saturday the 15th March over a first round course of 95cm, five combinations that qualified at West Kype all jumped clear in the first round over the course built by Kenny Rendall; Meghan Ballantyne with Landlord, Kirstyn Beattie with both Misty and Tornado, Jordan Doyle with Joey and Jenna Letham with Hazel. The second round was moved up to a more challenging 1m/1.05m and with twelve through to the jump off everyone needed to “have a go”. It was closely fought but the two that managed to secure qualifying places for the Championships which are awarded to those placed in the top four were Kirstyn Beattie with Tornado in third place and Meghan Ballantyne with Landlord in fourth.
The second qualifying class of the day was the Open Qualifier which is jumped over 1.10m. Two of the partnerships, Meghan and Jenna, jumped in this class and took it by storm. Meghan taking first place with Landlord and Jenna taking second place with Sam.
This was a great results for all with Kirstyn and Jordan jumping in their first Dengie second rounds and Meghan and Jenna taking the Open class at their first attempt.
Kirstyn, Meghan and Jenna are all members of the Lanarkshire BS Junior Academy which meets monthly at West Kype and also train there regularly with Andrew Wilson.
